Our discussion&#8217;s goal is to share an explanation from The Torah about sexual origins that some in the theological community have avoided.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Leaders in my community taught me that the acts of the LGBTQ community are an abomination. LGBTQ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. Spiritual leaders from my community taught that God Intends for everyone to be straight. I would say that overall, their position is unnecessarily harsh and insensitive. As a result, there are times I will be tedious. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Genesis 5.1 says, <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d6\u05b6\u05d4 \u05e1\u05b5\u05e4\u05b6\u05e8 \u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b0\u05d3\u05b9\u05ea \u05d0\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05dd <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">This Book is the history of Adam [humankind]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0Translators tend to translate <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b0\u05d3\u05b9\u05ea <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Toh Lihl Doht as descendants or generations rather than &#8216;history.&#8217; In so doing, they bypass explaining the history.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Translators that render <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b0\u05d3\u05b9\u05ea <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Toh Lihl Doht as history may still bypass the record in Genesis 5.1 \u2013 2. Many translations render <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d0\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05dd <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">&#8211; Adam as a man. In that instance, using Adam is the better choice. Why? Holy Scripture reveals it does not conceal. The psalmist wrote, &#8216;Your Word [Torah] is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. In other words,<span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"> The Torah is a light to our path means the purpose of The Torah is to enlighten. <\/span>How does translating Adam as man enlighten us? We already have a Word for &#8216;man&#8217; &#8211; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Eesh.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"RIGHT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Genesis 5.1<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"RIGHT\"><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05d9\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e8\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d0\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05dd \u05d1\u05b4\u05bc\u05d3\u05b0\u05de\u05d5\u05bc\u05ea \u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05e2\u05b8\u05e9\u05b8\u05c2\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05d5\u05b9 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Genesis 5.1-2<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><em><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created Adam, in the [Spiritual] semblance of God, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He made him; male and female. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He created them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">in the day when they were created.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Genesis 5.1 reveals the Spiritual semblance of Adam before The Lord God separated Chavah from him. Originally they were one soul. When The Lord God separated them, they became soulmates. Kabbalah teaches that all souls come from Adam. What is it like to be like God? The Torah states, we are made in the Spiritual semblance of God. What does that mean? We know that God is Spirit. When we think of God&#8217;s Semblance, perhaps we think of God as Spirit, Wind, or Breath, where His Presence is seen or felt.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">We can deduce from the above information that we were not created in the physical image of God. God does not have a physical image. We were created in God&#8217;s Spiritual Image. Our likeness to God is Spiritual. We were created in His Spiritual Likeness.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Genesis 5.2 says He Created them as<\/span> <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\">\u05d6\u05b8\u05db\u05b8\u05e8 \u05d5\u05bc\u05e0\u05b0\u05e7\u05b5\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b8\u05dd <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\">Male and Female. So originally, a male Adam and a female Adam shared the same body.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Rabbi Jeremiah ben Leazar said: When the Holy One, blessed be He, created Adam, He created him as a hermaphrodite [bi-sexual], for it is written, &#8216;Male and Female Created He them and called their name Adam.&#8217; Bereisheit Rabba 8<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Adam and Chavah were created androgynous. That means Adam was partly male and partly female in appearance. Chavah was partly male and partly female in appearance. How do we know this? The Holy Scripture says,<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">&#8216;He Created them as Male and Female. He Called their name, Adam.&#8217;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0So Adam was called Adam, and Chavah was also called Adam.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> Why? The Lord God Formed their body as one with a combination of masculine and feminine sexual organs into one body. They were created androgynous. Rabbi Moshe Weissman,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><u>The Midrash Says<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u00a0(Brooklyn, New York: Benei Yakov Publications 1980), p. 33<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">That is significant because Holy Scripture does not describe God as being androgynous. Being created androgynous should help each of us understand physical and sexual attractions experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. Those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer may appear different from heterosexuals. Yet who can say what is in each of our gene pools? <span style=\"color: #cc0000;\">We need to be very careful about branding other humans as evil or sinful because of their sexual choices.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Rabbi Samuel ben Nahman said: When The Lord Created Adam He Created him double-faced, then later He split him and made him with two backs, one back on this side and one back on the other side. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">He acknowledges a possible objection in Genesis 2.21, <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05bc\u05e7\u05b7\u05bc\u05d7 \u05d0\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05ea \u05de\u05b4\u05e6\u05b7\u05bc\u05dc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">And He took one from his ribs and closed up the flesh. And the rib, which The Lord God took from Adam He made a woman and brought her to the man. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05de\u05b4\u05e6\u05b7\u05bc\u05dc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">&#8211; Mee Zah Lih Ooh Thaw means from one of his sides.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">So our first Parents were created androgynous. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05e8\u05b6\u05da\u05b0 \u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">and [then] He blessed them. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Does that seem strange or awkward? Perhaps those that, adhere to strict positions, need to explain how is it that The Lord God created our first parents androgynous and then <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05e8\u05b6\u05da\u05b0 \u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Lord God<\/span><\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> Blessed them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> <strong><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">That does not give the impression that The Lord God is unhappy with those who are struggling with their sexuality.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> The Lord God knows us better than we know ourselves.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05e8\u05b6\u05da\u05b0 \u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">and He Blessed them. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05bc\u05e7\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea\u05be\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05de\u05b8\u05dd \u05d0\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05dd <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">He Called everything from Aleph to Tav of their name Adam.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Male and female created He them; and Blessed them, and Called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">\u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05bc\u05e7\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea\u05be\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05de\u05b8\u05dd \u05d0\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u05dd <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">and He Called everything from Aleph to Tav of their name Adam.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\">Study partners, once we saw the correct translations of Genesis 5.1 \u2013 2 we were able to discuss the history of human sexuality. There are other Scripture Passages that reveal Light on human sexuality. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">God Willing,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #0e101a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">we will continue to stay within the Torah&#8217;s Guidelines of righteous living and repentance. May we help others, May we bring peace and healing to our world.
