font-size: 20px;\">Our souls journey must be undertaken with z\u2019rizut<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Z\u2019rirut is the energy that drives us to want to change, to make the world a better place which is our mission while in this world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">The Talmud teaches that a good deed is only credited upon its completion.<span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">Genesis Rabbah 85.3<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">The trait of zeal is an ornament to all the other traits and it perfects all of them. <span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">The Ways of the Tzaddikim Feldheim page 287<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.\u00a0 Tehilim (Psalm) 34.15<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">I hastened and did not delay to observe Your Mitzvotecha (Commandments).\u00a0 \u00a0T<span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">ehilim (Psalm) 119.60<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">The opportunity to provide for the soul is only in the present.\u00a0 This world is like Friday; the World to Come is like Sabbath.\u00a0 Only if one prepares food on Friday will he have provisions for the Sabbath.\u00a0 Once one\u2019s time in this world is up, he can no longer do any mitzvoth.\u00a0 If not now, when.\u00a0 <span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">Pirkei Avos Treasury Artscroll page 43<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Bereishit (Genesis) 18.2\u00a0 And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him; and when he saw them, <strong>he ran to meet them<\/strong> from the tent door, and bowed himself to the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Abraham shows his z\u2019rizut\/zeal\/enthusiasm for HaShem.\u00a0 He recognizes that these <strong><em>men<\/em><\/strong> are messengers from G-d so he runs to greet them and see to their needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">This is called\u00a0 hachnasat orchim, welcoming guests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Bereishit (Genesis) 20.2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister; and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Acting with too much z\u2019rizut, Abraham quickly thinks to save his own life at the risk of Sarah\u2019s being raped.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Bereishit (Genesis) 20.10 And Abimelech said to Abraham, What did you see, that you have done this thing<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Abraham\u2019s own fear and mistrust of the unknown led him to act impetuously and without faith in the power and promise of God.\u00a0 This is the wrong kind of z\u2019rirut.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">S<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">et your intention for the day when you arise to that you can practice z\u2019rizut\/alacrity\/zeal in everything you do.\u00a0 Become aware of those special sacred moments in the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Find ways to speak out for righteousness, justice and Truth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Pirkei Avot 2.4 cautions us about the lack of zeal\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">\u2026\u00a0do not say <em>When I free myself of my concerns, I will study<\/em>, for perhaps you will never free yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Mishlei (Proverbs)28.9 says\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">He who turns his ear away from hearing the Torah-even his prayer is an abomination<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Better to Me one day spent by you in study of Torah than a thousand sacrifices that your son Solomon will [some day] offer before Me, on the altar! <span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">Talmud Makkoth 10a<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Michah (Micah)10.8\u00a0 He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the L-rd Demands of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><em>Mussar<\/em>\u00a0 teaches us that we are to both study and exercise our values. For\u00a0<em>z\u2019rizut<\/em>\/zeal\/enthusiasm, this means identifying where in life we need more or less of this trait.
