Judaism is about community.\u00a0 Living in a community makes it difficult to hide any part of our lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">The power of the soul to affect things in our world is called conscious determination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">It is tzimtzum that makes possible free-will choices. For, without tzimtzum there can be no darkness; without darkness, there can be no evil; without evil, there can be no alternative to make free-choice a reality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">In Bereishit (Genesis) 1.5\u00a0 we read\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><em>And there was evening and there was morning, one day<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Darkness preceded the light.\u00a0 This is a physical and spiritual truth.\u00a0 Often in our own lives darkness precedes the light.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">Every descent is for the purpose of ascent.\u00a0 Every failure to keep G-d\u2019s Commandments provides an opportunity for repentance and ascent back to G-d.\u00a0 David provides us an example where we watch his failure in falling for Batsheva.\u00a0 His failure provides us with a great example of remorse and repentance in Psalm 51.\u00a0 Our souls descend from heaven into our physical bodies in order to cause an ascent by means of Torah and Mitzvot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><strong><em>\u00a0And do not let your evil inclination assure you that the grave is a refuge for you \u2014 for against your will were you created, against your will were you born, against your will do you live, against your will will you die, and against your will will you stand in judgment before the King of kings, the Holy One, Blessed be He. <\/em><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\"><strong><em>Pirkei Avot Treasury\u00a0 Artscroll Mesorah\u00a0 4.29 pages 293-294<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
