font-size: 16px;\">By this injunction we are commanded to serve G-d.\u00a0 This command imposes the specific duty of Prayer.\u00a0 The Sifre says: <em>to serve Him<\/em> means Prayer.\u00a0 The Sages also say: <em>to serve Him<\/em> means study of the Law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0(sifre means book in Aramaic &#8211;\u00a0 so there is a sifre on the book of Bamidbar (Numbers) and on the book of Devarim( Deuteronomy), etc\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">You shall <u>walk after the L-rd your G-d<\/u>, and <u>fear Him<\/u>, and <u>keep His Commandments<\/u>, and <u>obey His Voice<\/u>, and you shall <u>serve Him<\/u>, and <u>hold fast<\/u> to Him:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">And it shall come to pass, <u>if you shall give heed diligently to My commandments<\/u> which I command you this day, to love the L-rd your G-d, and to serve him\u00a0 with all your heart and with all your soul (nefesh).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Maimodes states in <em>Guide For The Perplexed <\/em><em>page 385 <\/em>Man\u2019s love of G-d is identical with his knowledge of Him.\u00a0 The Divine service enjoined in these words must, accordingly, be preceded by the love of G-d.\u00a0 Our Sages have pointed out to us that it is a service in the heart, which explanation I understand to mean this:\u00a0 man concentrates all his thoughts on the First Intellect, and is absorbed in these thoughts as much as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">_____________________________________<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Rambam states in the <em>Yad hachzakah:, Laws Concerning the Fundamentals of our Faith<\/em>, <em>ch.1 Law 11<\/em>, <em>and He does not change, for there is nothing that can cause change in Him. There does not exist in Him&#8230; anger or laughter, happiness or sadness&#8230;<\/em> G-d is not improved, happier, in a better state of being if we serve Him or in a worse state if we do not serve Him. Our G-d is awesome and we cannot affect Him in any way whatever. Whether we are evil or righteous, religious or atheistic, G-d remains unaffected. He, the Supreme Being, is not in need of anything including our worship of Him. Why then do we worship G-d? Because in so doing we fulfill the Divine potential G-d has endowed us with. The worship of G-d through Torah study brings into realization the highest element in our nature and gives us true existence and fulfillment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">The ability to pray is identified by the sages as a power of the heart: <em>What is the toil of the heart? Prayer?<\/em>\u00a0 Prayer depends on the sensitivity and delicate nature of the heart, which can only be refined by truly connecting to and internalizing the <em>lessons<\/em> gathered from one\u2019s study of the Torah. A Heart of Knowledge refers to the heart\u2019s ability to grow into a sanguine and fully developed center for one\u2019s sensitivity to feelings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Psalm 34.16 The eyes of the L-rd are to the righteous, and His ears are to their cry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 24px;\">\u05e2\u05b5\u05d9\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b9\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc \u05e6\u05b7\u05d3\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e7\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d5\u05b0\u05d0\u05b8\u05d6\u05b0\u05e0\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc \u05e9\u05c1\u05b7\u05d5\u05b0\u05e2\u05b8\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">Divrei Hayamim 1 ( 1 Chronicles ) 28:8<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">And now, before the eyes of all Israel, the congregation of the L-rd, and in the ears of our G=d,\u00a0\u2026\u00a0<strong>observe and seek all the commandments of the L-rd your G-d<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0in order that you inherit the good land and bequeath it to your sons after you forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px;\"> Happy are all who put their trust in Him: <span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">Tehilim Psalm) 2.11-12<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">The fear of the L-rd is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His Commandments; His Praise Endures forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the L-rd, and the knowledge of the holy ones is understanding. <span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">Mishlei (Proverbs) 9.10<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;\">So to conclude \u2013 to worship G-d means to serve Him, to pray, praise Him and to study His Mitzvot and keep them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
