Our Torah Discussion is in the loving memory of Mr. George ben Idah, of blessed memory. May he rest in peace and may he be elevated in the Heavens. May his memory be for good.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Genesis 15 is known as the chapter with the &#8216;Covenant between the Pieces.&#8217; Avram is seventy years old. Sari is Sixty years old. This was in year 2,018 From Creation. It was Abram\u2019s first venture into Eretz Canaan. They would visit then return to Haran. They would leave Haran for the last time in 2,023 From Creation. That is five years away. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In Chapter 15 we learn:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Lord is Avram&#8217;s shield<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8211; <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u05de\u05b8\u05d2\u05b5\u05df<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Avram and Sari were childless.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Avram is told he would have children &#8211; Look to The Heavens \u2026 so shall your seed be\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Lord tells Avram that He delivered him from the fires of the Chaldees\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Avram is instructed to sacrifice\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Avram is informed that his seed will be as strangers in a land that is not their\u2019s. They will be afflicted four hundred years\u2026 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Lord will Judge the nation responsible\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Avram&#8217;s Descendants would come forth with great wealth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the fourth generation, they will return to The Land of Cannan\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Lord and Avram made a covenant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Avram was informed,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"RIGHT\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #3366ff;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Genesis 15.16<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"RIGHT\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #b3b3b3;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">:<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">\u05d5\u05b0\u05d0\u05b7\u05ea\u05b8\u05bc\u05d4\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">\u05ea\u05b8\u05bc\u05d1\u05d5\u05b9\u05d0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">\u05d0\u05b6\u05dc\u05be\u05d0\u05b2\u05d1\u05b9\u05ea\u05b6\u05d9\u05da\u05b8\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">\u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e9\u05b8\u05c1\u05dc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">\u05ea\u05b4\u05bc\u05e7\u05b8\u05bc\u05d1\u05b5\u05e8\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">\u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05e9\u05b5\u05c2\u05d9\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-large;\">\u05d8\u05d5\u05b9\u05d1\u05b8\u05d4<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\">And you shall go\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">to your fathers in peace;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #0099ff;\">you shall be buried in a good old age.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Lord God offers comfort to Avram. &#8216;[Your Soul] shall go to your fathers in peace.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000; font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Shalom is representative of Success, of Contentment, of Comfort, of Well-Being and of Tranquility. In other Words, Avram was going to the World after this one (Olam Haba). He was going to Heaven\u2026 There are many wonderful words for Heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Avram is informed that others he knew in this life would also be there in Heaven, i.e. &#8216;Your Fathers.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">He was &#8216;[<strong>lovingly<\/strong>] gathered to his people.&#8217; Who were his people? The righteous. The Observant. He was NOT rejected\u2026 He was NOT done away with. He was lovingly gathered. He was brought in to his people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We know that Terach, Avraham&#8217;s Father, a former Idol maker repented from Idol making because Avraham joined his father in heaven. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000044;\">Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz and Rabbi Nosson Scherman, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000044;\"><u>The Artscroll Tanach Series &#8211; Bereishis Vol. I(a)<\/u><\/span><span style=\"color: #000044;\">(Brooklyn, New York: Mesorah Publications, Ltd. 3rd Impression, 1989), p 531<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8216;Your Fleshly body will be buried.&#8217; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">This will happen when you are old. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">You will be at a &#8216;Good Old Age.&#8217; It is not going to be tragic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">We know that the issues between Avraham and Yishmael were resolved because his sons buried him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Genesis 25.7-9<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><i>And these are the days of the years of Abraham\u2019s life which he lived, a hundred and seventy-five years.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><i>Then Abraham expired, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Genesis 25.9<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8216;\u2026his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah\u2026&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Dear Ones what we observe here is that Avraham&#8217;s soul went to Heaven. He joined other souls already in Heaven.
