Numbers 4:21 - 7:89 How to Receive the Blessings of Hashem's Countenance © We read in this week's parsha, "And spoke Hashem to Moshe, saying, 'Speak to Aharon and to [Aharon's] sons, saying: {as in "say it often"}: Say this blessing [of Aleph to Sav, meaning this complete blessing] over B'nei Yisroel, repeating to them [Aharon and his sons, what blessing they were to say]: May Hashem bless you and safeguard you! May Hashem cause the countenance [from His face] to shine on you being favorable unto you! May Hashem lift you [with the glory of] His countenance and grant you His peace! And {as My agents/Priests} they {Aharon and his sons} shall bestow [the goodness from Aleph to Sav] upon B'nei Yisroel and I will bless them." That is, I will agree with their blessing over B'nei Yisroel. There is a very interesting occurrence in this passage. The words Hashem - Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw, meaning "Hashem's countenance upon you..." The only time these three words appear together in this precise order is here in this passage. In fact Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw occurs twice in this blessing, this blessing that Hashem instructed Moshe to teach Aharon and his sons. That is strange! The first occurrence: The second occurrence: The Gematria of Hashem - Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw is 223. Hashem { Hashem
} Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw {countenance [from His face] on you} Now, dear reader, it is one thing for the Kohanim to observe what Hashem has commanded, i.e., to bless us - Kol Yisroel - in this fashion, and it is an entirely other matter for the blessing to actually happen. If the blessing is not automatic then what is the purpose of the blessing? If the blessing does not happen then why recite it at all? First, this blessing represents Hashem's desire
for us, His people. It is not a guarantee! The first thing I notice is items that are close to Hashem's countenance: Meek Dawsh {The
Holy Sanctuary where Hashem's Glory resides} Mee Koh Dehsh {From The Holy
[Place]} Lu Choos {Tablets
the Ten Commands were written on} Ha Shohf Teem
{The Judges} Here we observe a correlation between the Holy Sanctuary, The Holy Place, The Tablets and the Judges of righteousness. They correlate to: Yaw Ayr - Hashem - Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw "...May Hashem cause the countenance [from His face] to shine on you.." which is also the Gematria of 444. Yaw Ayr
- Hashem - Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw Yaw Ayr Hashem
{May Hashem cause} Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw {the countenance [from His face to shine] on you} 444 = 237 + 207 We continue: Remember that Avraham's servant was sent to Avraham's native land to take a wife for Yitzchok. When he arrived he prayed to Hashem. It was as if his head were bowed during his prayer and before he finished and looked up Rivkah, the answer to his prayer, was already there. {See Genesis 24} Vi Law Kawch Taw {you will take
[a wife, Rivkah, for my son Yitzchok]} Remember, Yosief was sold into captivity by his brothers to a band of Yishmaelites from whom Potiphar purchased him. While serving in Potiphar's house he was falsely accused of wrongdoing and sent to prison. While in prison the King of Mitzriam had his chief butler and chief baker thrown into prison. Each had a dream. Yosief interpreted their dreams. In his interpretation Yosief said to the chief butler, "Pharaoh will Yee Saw, {lift your head}," meaning he would be restored to his original position. Yosief said to the chief baker, "Pharaoh will Yee Saw {lift your head from off of you}" meaning he would die. Genesis 40 Chassidim, notice the significance of these statements! Later the chief butler said to Pharaoh that there was a lad in prison that Chah Loh Moh Say Nu, meaning "interpreted our dreams." Genesis 41:12 Chah Loh Moh Say Nu {interpreted
our dreams} In Leviticus 23:18 we are instructed to bring certain specific offerings to Hashem to be burnt on the Misbayach with fire for a pleasing fragrance to Hashem. One of the offerings referred to by Hashem is Vu Meen Chaw Sawm, meaning "with their meal offering." Now remember the offering is lifted up to Hashem and the fragrance is lifted and rises up to Hashem.
In Numbers 32:16 - 18 the tribes of Reuvein and Gad approached Moshe regarding the land they were presently occupying. They requested that the land be given to them as Nah Chah Law Say Nu, meaning "our inheritance." Essentially, Moshe required the tribes of Reuvein and Gad to go forth or to go up with their brethren to war... to fight... Now again in each of these instances we observe the word or the concept "Yee Saw," to lift up. Rivkah was certainly lifted up. When she entered Sarah's tent Hashem's presence, the Shechinah, returned to its entrance. Rivkah's Shabbos lights burned the entire seven days as did Sarah's, and the Challah from her table {which represented support and abundance to those around} returned. Certainly our dreams are a spiritual experience. We notice in the chief butler and baker's dreams the exact same word, Yee Saw. Again, certainly our offerings to Hashem are lifted up and they are intended to lift us up as well. Then when we consider our inheritance, the land of Yisroel, we again are lifted up. Each of these references correlates to the Gematria 544 of Yee Saw - Hashem - Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw "...May Hashem lift you [with the glory of] His countenance.." Yee Saw
- Hashem - Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw Yee Saw Hashem
{ May Hashem lift you} Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw {[with the glory of] His countenance} 207 = Chof 20 Yud 10 Lamid 30 Aleph 1 - Vav 6 Yud 10 Nun 50 Pey 80 544 = 337 + 207 Then we consider the words of the Gematria that we began with, Hashem - Paw Naw Vi - Ay Leh Chaw which is 233. These words mystically represent the holiness of remembering. Remembering what? The countenance of Hashem is close to remembering the Shabbos to keep it holy, to remembering His Holy Shabbosim, the Holy Days, the Torah, etc... Zaw Cohr {Remember} Part of remembering has to do with observing what our sages have taught us. Vi Zeek Nay Chehm {and
your elders} We began by stating: We stated: Now Hashem's countenance that shines on us and that uplifts us is close to holiness, to holy objects , close to holy places, holy people, holy agreements, holy experiences. If we want to enjoy Hashem's blessings we MUST understand the intention of the Kohanim blessing. Their blessing is an encouragement, even a directive, to live the type of life that shares in Hashem's countenance. When we are in the right places, the observant places, we automatically share and benefit from Hashem's countenance existing in those places, etc. When we do this we will experience the promise of Deuteronomy 7:12 which is "And He will love you, and bless you and multiply you {Vi Heer Beh Chaw, meaning multiply you}. Dear reader, this is how we receive the blessing of Hashem's countenance! Vi Heer Beh Chaw
{multiply you} Dear readers, the Torah is about blessing, blessing G-d for food, blessing G-d for children, blessing G-d for fragrances, Blessing G-d... So what happens when a person doesn't grow up in an observant family? What happens when a person reaches, say, twenty-six? What have they missed? What's the BIG DEAL? Well, considering leap years and Holy Days, Bar Mitzvahs / Bas Mitzvahs and other great simchas, they have missed out on over 1,000,000 {ONE MILLION} blessings!! STOP and think about this... OVER ONE MILLION BLESSINGS! What a deficit!... What a great emptiness!... So a child who has grown up in an assimilated home or in a home that does not offer blessings has been ROBBED OF OVER ONE MILLION BLESSINGS! My dear one, if you are lost, so to speak, about this blessing business we can help. If you want to learn a few of the most important blessings, JewishPath can bring blessings into your life.
