Deuteronomy 33:1 -34:12 Festival Of Conclusion & Rejoicing In The Torah This study of mysticism in Hebrew Gematria is dedicated in the loving memory of Mr. Paul Sakash, may he rest in peace. As we enter the final days in this year's cycle of Torah study, we're approaching a new beginning in several areas. First, Jewish people from all walks of life, from all levels of earning capacity, from every level of observance, from every level of education and from every nation in the world will begin a new year cycle of Torah study for this coming year, G-d willing. Second, in a few days as we close Parshas Vezos Habracha {Deuteronomy 33:1 - 34:12} we begin Parshas Bereishis {Genesis 1:1 - 6:8} As we conclude Vezos Habracha we note a transition from the great leader Moshe Rebbeinu to the new leader Yehoshua Ben Nun, Moshe's minister. Third, we zoom in on the transition surrounding B'nei Yisroel. Our ancestors have been wandering in the BaMidbar for 40 years after exiting Mitzriam. They're now preparing to enter the land Hashem promised them. They will enter this new land under the new direction of Yehoshua after Moshe's death. Fourth, the first Hebrew word in the book Bereishis is Bereishis, meaning " In the beginning." Fifth, we have just celebrated according to certain authorities the beginning of the world at Rosh Hashanah. Now there is a common thread from the Gematrial standpoint of 913. We read the following words from the concluding Parshas VeeYoh Shoo Ah - Ben Noon - Maw Lay - Roo Ach - Chawch Maw meaning, "Yehoshua son of Nun was filled with a spirit of wisdom {because Moshe had rested his hands on him; B'nei Yisroel listened to him and acted as Hashem had commanded Moshe."} Deuteronomy 34:9 From right to left: VeeYoh Shoo Ah Ben - Noon - Maw Lay Roo Ach -
Chaw Maw 913 = 397 + 229 + 287 This is significant because it focuses on the end result, that being "Yehoshua son of Nun was filled with a spirit of wisdom" after he bowed his head, after he submitted to the authority of Moshe and after Moshe laid his hands on the head of Yehoshua. Once Yehoshua was filled with Moshe Rebbeinu's spirit of wisdom, he had authority. B'nei Yisroel listened to him. They observed his Commands. Now in the book of Bereishis we have a similar incident. We observe in the beginning before G-d's Creation of the world that the world was unformed and desolate. Out of absolutely nothing G-d created this unformed, desolate, formed mass that the world's surface was covered by... Then G-d placed His hands, figuratively speaking, in the form of His breath upon this desolate world to continue His creating. We read that the Spirit of G-d hovered over the surface of the water. Then G-d who is a Spirit, i.e. as a Spirit, began to issue commands in nature and mother earth obeyed His every command. When did this occur? Bereishis, meaning "In the beginning." The Gematria for Bereishis is also 913. So we see a unique connection here. Through G-d's Command Moshe placed his hands upon Joshua and gave him his spirit of wisdom. We also see that G-d imparted His Spirit of wisdom in His creating this world. One happened in the beginning when Joshua and B'nei Yisroel were preparing to enter the Promised Land and the other happened in the beginning of Creation. So we have this unique continuity from one parsha to the next parsha and to the next. Again we start the entire learning cycle for the coming year G-d willing!
