Deuteronomy 14:22 -16:17 {Second Day } Maftir: Numbers 28:26 - 31 {Both Days} Habakkuk 2:20 - 3:19 {Second Day} This study of the Holy Days is dedicated in the loving memory of Jack and Bella Noahson may they rest in peace. Between Pesach and Shavuos there are seven weeks of seven days, 7 x 7 = 49 days. The Torah states, "Seven weeks count to yourself." Deuteronomy 16:9 Kabbalistically speaking, as we count the days and weeks between Pesach and Shavuos we are to focus on a particular area of thought as listed below. Each day within the week we are to consider a particular discipline of that week's focus. Week One Week Two Week Three Week Four Week Five Week Six Week Seven Notice that there is a different focus for each of the seven weeks. There is also a different discipline for each day of the week as seen below. Week One Chesed {KINDNESS}
Week Two Gi Voo Raw {STRENGTH} Week Three Teef Eh Rehs
{SPLENDOR}
Week Four Neh Tzah Ach
{ETERNITY}
Week Five Hohd {MAJESTY}
Week Six Yi Sohd {ESTABLISHMENT}
We have just observed to a limited degree how each day of seven days of each week of seven weeks is mystically intertwined. Having an awareness of this special mystical relationship of the days and the weeks between Pesach and Shavuos is like knowing where a book is on the shelf without actually reading the book. One has a mental awareness without exploration! That is where most of us are at this juncture. Dear reader, in a sense the seven weeks of
the Omer demonstrate the Uniqueness of G-d the Creator. Now in
our very limited understanding we can begin a process of comprehending
a small speck of Hashem's greatness. The Torah defines the thirteen
attributes that Hashem revealed to Moshe. These are the attributes
humans can connect with: Now, dear holy reader, as a method of attempting to comprehend G-d one can begin a similar connection of G-d's Attributes {13 x13 = 169} to those of counting the omer 7x7 = 49. In a miniscule, limited way we can understand what Hashem has chosen to reveal to us in the Torah. Chassidim, Gematria also relates and interconnects other words as we displayed in the counting of the Omer. Most of us can only observe Gematria as a book on the shelf. The exploration of Gematria is simply too deep beyond a few extremely simple disciplines. Now can you imagine applying the same principles of counting the omer to the unlimited, to G-d the Creator? In the counting of the omer THERE ARE SEVEN SEFIROS, Kabbalistic spheres each of which corresponds to one week of the omer. One can compare sefiros to the Aleph Bais {Hebrew Alphabet}, Gematria words, musical notes, etc... This tells us that the Aleph and the Sav, the first letter of the Aleph Bais and the last letter of the Aleph Bais, have the same relationship as in do - re - me - fa - so - la - ti - do. In other words when we return to the concept of the ladder reaching from earth to heaven, our first step toward heaven is the Aleph. Yet when considering what appears to be the opposite, G-d's first step from heaven towards us on earth, it is the Sav. What appears to be our last step is G-d's first step and what appears to be our first step is G-d's last step. The demonstration is clearly explained in the At Bash Chart of my Gematria kit. {You can order one HERE.} Holy readers, how does this apply to the forty-nine days between Pesach and Shavuos? First, even though the forty-ninth day of counting the omer is some distance away from the first day and the first week, they are related. From the first day of the first week each are one seventh of the other. Every step in the climb to the forty-ninth day is closely related to the steps ahead as well as the steps behind. Our conclusion is Mal Choos, KINGDOM. Yet we experience Mal Choos in the first week of our ascent. The Chesed of the first week is one seventh of Mal Choos. Yet the Mal Choos of the seventh week is one seventh of the Chesed of the first week. Dear readers, this tells us that every step of pain, every step of joy, every step of our life is intertwined from the beginning to the end. When we begin our life we are connected to our conclusion. When we conclude our life we are connected to our beginning. The beginning of our life is the conclusion of another life. The conclusion of our life is the beginning of another. The conclusion of one journey is the beginning of another. All these journeys equal one life. G-d willing, we will eventually conclude with Mal Choos Sheh Bi Mal Choos. And at that conclusion it will not be as in the counting of the omer {Kingdom [one] seventh of Kingdom}. Our eternal conclusion, G-d willing, will be Mal Choos Sheh Bi Mal Choos "KINGDOM OF THE SEVENTH KINGDOM!" Today we are remembering our climb of the past forty-nine days. We go through this exercise each year to remind ourselves that our lives are similar to counting the omer. Each year we repeat the annual cycle of counting the omer. G-d willing, we eventually reach Mal Choos Sheh Bi Mal Choos. In the same way through a cycle of lives we will G-d willing reach Mal Choos Sheh Bi Mal Choos "KINGDOM OF THE SEVENTH KINGDOM! May Hashem bless us in our mystical journey to eventually reach Mal Choos Sheh Bi Mal Choos. Good Yom Tov! Dr. Akiva G. Belk JewishPath is a sponsor of B'nai Noach Torah Institute.
