Deuteronomy 33:1 -34:12 Festival Of Conclusion & Rejoicing In The Torah
This study of the weekly parsha is dedicated in the loving memory of Mr. Paul Sakash, may he rest in peace. Hashem spoke the words written in the Torah directly to Moshe. Moshe carefully and faithfully recorded them. Over a period of less than forty years Moshe scribed the entire Torah. At the same time he taught it to Aron, Yehoshuah, the elders of Yisroel and every Jew. There were over three million Jewish witnesses and many nonJewish witnesses to this fact. Jews and Christian / Messianics know this. The point is, before Moshe died he completed the Torah. This includes chapter twenty-four of Deuteronomy. Hashem transmitted to Moshe the events that would happen after his death just like Hashem had transmitted many other prophetic events yet to come. Now knowing these straightforward facts one cannot deny that G-d made the following comment: "Never again has there arisen in Yisroel a prophet like Moshe, whom Hashem had known face to face as evidenced by all the signs and wonders that Hashem sent Him to perform in the land of Mitzriam, against Pharaoh and all his courtiers and all his land, and by all the strong hand and awesome power that Moshe performed before the eyes of all Yisroel."" (Deuteronomy 34:10 - 34:12) G-d said from the vantage point of observing past and future eternity, "NEVER AGAIN has there arisen in Yisroel a prophet like Moshe." Simply put, according to G-d's very Word that means no Jewish prophet would reach the level of Moshe including Jesus, if Jesus was actually a prophet... G-d testified! G-d promised! G-d eulogized Moshe Rabbeinu to Kal Yisroel, to over three million Jews these words, 'NEVER AGAIN... will there be a prophet that I will speak face to face with like Moshe.' Discounting G-d's Word in Deuteronomy is a mistake. G-d's words "NEVER AGAIN" transcend any man-made dispensation. This is not a grammatical error! This is G-d the Creator of the universe speaking here. This is G-d who knows all past... all present.. all future... To attempt any type of rationalization or redefinition (of what G-d said) is wrong and inaccurate! G-d's word in the Torah is clear, "NEVER AGAIN!" Nowhere in Tenach does G-d ever testify to three million people as He does here! G-d made a statement that he wanted everyone in the Jewish nation to hear and understand! That statement still stands today as the invincible word of G-d! Now many have claimed to speak face to face with G-d. In Tenach a few have claimed to speak face to face with G-d. There is no denying that they had a serious spiritual encounter and what they experienced is not to be taken lightly. However the Torah records three different times that G-d spoke face to face with Moshe. Nowhere else within Tenach does G-d make this statement about anyone! Those who believe Jesus spoke face to face with G-d have to address and acknowledge that what they believe does not line up with what G-d testified to in Deuteronomy. Those who believe Jews should accept that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah based on the merit of all the miracles Jesus is reported to have performed according to the New Testament have not come to grips with what G-d said: "NEVER AGAIN!" G-d said that the miracles Moshe performed against Pharaoh, against Pharaoh's courtiers and against all Pharaoh's land was evidence to the fact that He, G-d, and Moshe spoke face to face. This is an important fact as testified to by G-d. G-d squarely points to the greatness of the miracles performed by Moshe as evidence of that closeness. G-d also points to the numerous witnesses to these miracles as undeniable fact supporting the above statement! Notice what Pharaoh, King of Egypt, said and
his people said: Notice what Yethro stated: Notice what Rahab said: Now this is the evidence that Hashem testified to that supported His claim as Creator of the universe that He, G-d, and Moshe spoke face to face. In other words millions of people knew world wide what was happening through G-d's prophet Moshe! Simply put, nothing since has compared to what Hashem did through Moshe! Again, G-d squarely places the greatness of the miracles performed by Moshe as evidence of that closeness. G-d also points to the numerous witnesses to these miracles as undeniable fact supporting the above statement! We are not talking here about twelve close disciples, or five hundred supposed witnesses or five thousand hungry people. We are talking about the majority of the world, millions and millions of people, knowing about what G-d did to Egypt through the hand of Moshe. This is not a debate comparing miracle to miracle. It is the pure and simple testimony of G-d as G-d against what anyone else has said or may say. If one questions what G-d has said and meant in Deuteronomy, then everything they believe G-d has said is questionable to them. Last week we studied about the sweetness of Torah leading up to the celebration of Simchas Torah in which we read this parsha and parshas Bereishis to symbolize that the Torah is eternal. The Torah is an ongoing unbroken circle from year to year, from life to life, and from generation to generation. All the Torah, every letter, every word, every verse, every chapter, every book is 100% a testimony of what G-d as Originator has said! Wishing you the best, Dr. Akiva G.
