Genesis 12 – Truth Reveals

Our Weekly Genesis Review is in the loving memory of Mr. John Reynolds. May he rest in peace.

A portion of our weekly review of Genesis is a brief photo frame about Truth. Each of us has relevant, pertinent thoughts about Truth in general. Words of Ha Torah share Truth directly and indirectly. Individual interpretations go in many directions. If this were a political discussion, we could say Biblical Scholars Spin their version of The Truth. Sometimes strong opinions lead to disagreement and confrontation. It can be frustrating confusing, and depressing when people think their version of The Truth is the only right one. I encourage my friends and family to ask questions, listen, pray, study, and seek the Truth.

Grammar software queries authors. What is your intent? Is your objective to describe something to the reader? Are you telling a story? What is your purpose for educating? Is your goal to target and CONVINCE the reader? What are you trying to accomplish?

My goal is to share Truth with friends and relatives.

Truth is deeply rooted in Ha Torah and diligently woven within עִבְרִי Ee Vih Ree / Hebrew. Within Ha Torah are established paths of Truth. Some religions teach Truth based upon Ha Torah and quote from Ha Torah’s Scriptures. And unfortunately, some also attempt to support their religious doctrines and false teachings based upon Truth from Ha Torah.

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָֹה אֶל־אַבְרָם ס (Beresheit 12.1)

The first Hebrew Letter of our review in (Genesis 12) is The Letter ו Vav. The ו Vav is highlighted in red above. Hebrew is read from right to left. Beresheit is the Name The Lord God gave to the first book of Ha Torah, which is based upon the first Word of the first book. Who changed the name Beresheit to Genesis?

The Letter Vav is a peg, a nail, a hook that connects Letters in a word like יוֹם – Yohm – Day, – אוֹר – Ohr – Light, and רוּחַ – Roo Ach – Spirit. The Letter Vav connects words like בֵּין הָאוֹר וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁך – (Genesis 1.4) God – divided the light from the darkness. The Vav connects phrases, sentences, paragraphs, chapters, and books. The absence of the Letter Vav concludes a thought. One could also say the Vav group’s. The Vav connects opposing views, friends, or enemies.

The Vav represents the Gematria six. How many days or intervals were in God’s creation? The ו Vav represents completion.

(Genesis 1.5) says, ‘And God called the light day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening, and there was morning, one day.’

Notice the first Word of (Genesis 1.6) – וַיֹּאמֶר

(Genesis 1.8) says, ‘And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and morning, the second day.’

Notice the first Word of (Genesis 1.9) – וַיֹּאמֶר

(Genesis 1.13) says, ‘And there was evening, and there was morning, the third day.’

Notice the first Word of (Genesis 1.14) – וַיֹּאמֶר

(Genesis 1.19) says, ‘And there was evening, and there was morning, the fourth day.’

Notice the first Word of (Genesis 1.20) – וַיֹּאמֶר

(Genesis 1.23) says, ‘And there was evening, and there was morning, the fifth day.

Notice the first Word of (Genesis 1.24) – וַיֹּאמֶר

(Genesis 1.31) says, ‘And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and morning, the sixth day.’

Notice the first Word of (Genesis 2.4) – אֵלֶּה תוֹלְדוֹת הַשָּׁמַיִם There is NO VAV! Why?

(Genesis 2.1 – 4) says, ‘Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day, God ended His work which He had Made; and He Rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had Made. And God Blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it He had Rested from all his work which God Created and Made.’ This is an example of the Letter Vav concluding and grouping the creation time. There is more woven Truth! There are greater depths of the Torah’s Truth. Ha Torah does not validate, authenticate or substantiate God being both Divine and human, a virgin giving birth, or christmas.

HaShem provides us with markers to check and verify Truth from fabrications, inventions, pretenses, deceptions, or outright fibbing. Sometimes people believe false reports if you will fake news.

Judaism is not a religion. Judaism is the way Jewish people live. It is about our unique relationship with The Lord God, the covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, and observing the Torah of The Lord. Psalms 119.142) says, ‘Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, וְתוֹרָתְךָ, and your Torah is the אֱמֶת Truth.’ (Psalms 19.8) says, ‘The תּוֹרַת Torah of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.’

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָֹה אֶל־אַבְרָם ס (Beresheit 12.1)

It is significant that The Lord Spoke to Abram at this specific place and time in Ha Torah. If you will, this is mile marker 2023 F.C. We don’t want to miss the message. During the past two-thousand-twenty-three years, Ha Torah has shared ten conversations with people. I am not referring to the (Genesis 1.1 – 31) narrative. My reference is to conversations with people. Some conversations are a continuation of an existing discussion). It is very consequential that (Genesis 12.1) is the tenth conversation with The Lord God, and that conversation was with Abraham.

(Genesis 1.28 -30) Says, ‘And God said to them…’

(Genesis 2.16 – 18) Says, ‘And the Lord God commanded the man…’

(Genesis 3.9 – 24) Says, ‘And the Lord God called to Adam, and said to him, Where are you?’

(Genesis 4.6 -7) Says, ‘And the Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry?’

(Genesis 4. 9 – 15) Says, ‘And the Lord said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother?’

(Genesis 6.13 – 22) Says, ‘And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh has come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them.’

(Genesis 7.1 – 4) Says, ‘And the Lord said to Noah, Come you and all your house into the ark; for you have I seen righteous before me in this generation.’

(Genesis 8.15-17) Says, ‘And God spoke to Noah, saying, Go out from the ark, you, and your wife, and your sons, and your sons’ wives with you.’

(Genesis 9.1 -7) Says, ‘And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.’ (Genesis 9.8 – 27) Says, ‘And God spoke to Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;.’

(Genesis 12.1-3) Says, ‘And the Lord had said to Abram, Get out from your country, and from your family, and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you; And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you; and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.’ It is very consequential that (Genesis 12.1) is the tenth conversation with The Lord God, and that conversation was with Abraham. Why? Abraham is the past, present, and future redeemer for The People of Israel. The Truth in Ha Torah reveals ‘[THEN THE LORD GOD FORMED] THE MAN: for the sake of Abraham. (Bereisheit Rabba 14.6) Says, R. Levi said: It is written, The greatest man among the Anakim (Josh. XlV, 15): ‘man’ means Abraham, and why is he called the greatest man? Because he was worthy of being created before Adam, but the Holy One, blessed be He, reasoned: ‘He may sin, and there will be none to set it right. Hence I will create Adam first, so that if he sins, Abraham may come and set things right.’ R. Abba b. Kahana said: In general practice, when a man joints a pair of beams [so that they meet] at a slope, where does he place them? Surely in the middle of the chamber so they may support the beams in the front and behind. Why did the Lord Create Abraham in the middle of generations? So that he might bear the generations before and after him. R. Levi said: You bring a virtuous woman into the house of a corrupt one, but you do not bring a corrupt woman into the home of a virtuous one.

(Genesis 12.2) Elaborates – ‘I will bless you and make וַאֲגַדְּלָה שְׁמֶךָ your name great, and you shall be a blessing;’

(Genesis 23.6) states, ‘Hear us, אֲדֹנִי נְשִׂיא אֱלֹהִים my lord; you are a mighty prince among us;

(Genesis 24.1) says, And Abraham was an Elder, advanced in days; and the Lord had blessed Abraham completely in all things.

Dear ones, one letter, one Word, one phrase, one Scripture of Truth from Ha Tenach has the incredible power of profound revelation. Remember – the Lord Created Abraham in the middle of generations so that he might bear the generations before and after him.

May each of us be blessed with Torah Learning to encourage us and enlighten our way and help others.

Good Sabbath,
