Dear friends and family, ‘I’ve got your number’ is an idiom used by people who think they know someone well enough to anticipate what they will do under given circumstances. Do you know anyone like that?
Spiritually speaking, when we have someone’s number, we know their Gematria. Every Hebrew name has a number consonant to the Hebrew Letters in their name. Our Hebrew name describes our essence. (Genesis 25.25) says, ‘וַיִּקְרְאוּ שְׁמוֹ עֵשָׂו.’ And they called his name 376 – Esau. In the following Verse (Genesis 25.26), Ha Torah says, ‘וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ יַעֲקֹב ‘And his name was called 182 – Jacob.’
Esau’s name has three Letters beginning on the right.
376 = עֵשָׂו – Esau
ע – Ayin = 70
ש – Shin = 300
ו – Vav = 6
70+300+6 = 376
The Ayin symbolizes sight/insight, which we will soon discuss.
The Letter ש Shin is the great/dominating letter in Esau’s name. The Letter Shin symbolizes corruption.
The ו Vav is a connecting Letter that connects Esau to his actions. (Genesis 33.1) says, ‘Esau came, and four hundred men with him.‘ That act of bringing 400 men was humanly insightful. It reinforced that Esau was angry and unhappy and wanted to murder Jacob. He came prepared for war. He gave Jacob the impression that he was ready to enforce his desire to murder him and his loved ones. (Genesis 27.41) says, ‘Esau said in his heart When the days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.’ The Letter Vav connects Esau’s thoughts with Esau’s actions, i.e., coming with 400 men. אֶעֱשֶׂה Eh Eh Seh means that one acts to effect, to cause a consequence by their action.
אֶעֱשֶׂה Eh Eh Seh
א – Aleph – 1
ע – Ayin – 70
ש – Sin – 300
ה – Hey – 5
1+70+300+5 = 376
יַעֲקֹב Jacob’s Name has four letters beginning on the right.
י Yud = 10
ע Ayin = 70
ק Kuf = 100
בּ Bet = 2
10+70+100+2 = 182
The Letter י Yud 10 is the tiniest and mightiest Letter of The Hebrew Aleph Bet. The Lord’s Holy Name begins with The Letter י Yud. Jacob’s name also begins with The Letter י Yud.
The Letter ע Ayin – 70 is a symbol of sight/INSIGHT. Ha, Tenakh shares Jacob’s Spiritual insight and Esau’s material insight. Ha Tenakh shares Jacob’s Spiritual insight/wisdom and Esau’s physical insight. Jacob’s spiritual insight is expressed in חֶסֶד עִם with [loving] kindness, acts/gifts of charity/kindness. (Genesis 32.14-16) says, ‘[Jacob sent] a present for Esau, his brother. Two hundred female goats, twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams, Thirty milck camels with their colts, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty female asses, and ten foals.’ Jacob overcame the Evil intended by Esau with kindness.
The Letter ק – Kuf – 100. The Kuf typifies righteousness, holiness, and separation from sin in Jacob’s life. The Letter ק – Kuf is the great/ dominating letter in Jacob’s name.
The Letter Bet – 2 in Jacob’s name symbolizes Blessings and a house like The Bet Ha Mik Dosh – The Holy Temple.
Knowledge flows from knowing the wisdom of each Letter of The Aleph Bet. Letters of The Aleph Bet express the essence of who we are. They also tell us what we can be. שָׁלוֹם Shalom says peace and goodwill. When Jacob gave gifts to Esau, he was expressing Spiritual insight. The Lord used Jacobs’s gifts to soften Esau’s heart on the day Esau met Jacob. On that day, both brothers met, embraced, and hugged each other. They were in the minute. They expressed warmness, joy, and peace on that day. Jacob appealed to Esau’s good side. It worked. He had his number.
שָׁלוֹם Shalom
ש – Shin – 300
ל – Lamid – 30
ו – Vav – 6
ם – Mem – 40
300+30+6+40 = 376
The peace they experienced was short-lived. Later that same day, Esau returned to being the wicked person he was before meeting Jacob. Yet, on that day, for a short time, there was peace. The Lord impressed upon Jacob to give Esau great numbers of cattle and servants. These gifts were intended to soften Esau’s heart and avoid bloody warfare between the two brothers. Jacob had been driven into isolation by Esau’s hate and murderous rantings. Jacob humbled himself before Esau when they met.
The Evil exhibited by Esau in Genesis and his descendants in Exodus is the same Evil shown in our world today. This Evil exists in nations around our planet. Throughout history, adversaries have come out against us and returned to their place on the same day. There are many acts of murder and terrorism against good people. There are evil disruptions of all sorts in our government. Mystically we see how profound Spiritual revelations can help bring peace, comfort, and pure life.
May The Lord Bless us in our daily walk, and may we stay within Torah’s guidelines. May we bring peace and healing to our world. May this coming Sabbath and every Sabbath be a blessed Day.
Good Sabbath!
