Genesis 36 – Takers! |
בייה |
Ha Torah defines Esau as a ‘TAKER.’ He took, stole, kidnapped, intimidated, abused, lied, and forced people to do what he wanted, much like some elected officials do throughout our world.
Lies from abortionists murderers:
Esau wanted to be the firstborn son of Isaac and Rebekah, so he fought with Jacob in their mother’s womb to be the firstborn.
• Children in their mother’s womb can think, plan, fight and scheme for good or evil. Esau ran towards idolatry and evil influences while in Rebekah’s womb. Jacob ran towards Words of Ha Torah. (Midrash Rabba 63.6 – 8). says, ‘Do not think that [Esau] only after issuing into the light of the world was antagonistic to Jacob. While still in his mother’s womb, he stretched his fist against Jacob: (Psalms 58.4) says, ‘The wicked stretch out their fists the wicked go astray from the womb; they err from birth speaking lies from the womb.’ They sought to run within her. When Rebekah stood near synagogues or schools, i.e., The Yeshiva of Shem and Eber, Jacob struggled to come out; hence it is written, Before I formed you in the belly I knew you,’ (Jeremiah 1.5). When Rebekah passed idolatrous temples, Esau eagerly struggled to come out; hence it is written,’ The wicked are estranged from the womb.’
• Children are Spiritually sensitive in their mother’s womb. They communicate, argue, and debate. Resh Lakish said: Each , Esau and Jacob annulled the laws of the other.
(Midrash Rabba 63) Also, Abraham’s life was shortened by five years because of Esau’s wickedness. Esau took five years of his Grandfather’s life. (Bava Basra 16b) says that the very day Abraham died, 15-year-old Esau committed five sins.
• He dishonored a betrothed maiden.
• He committed murder.
• He denied God.
• He denied the resurrection of the dead.
• He spurned his birthright.
(Genesis 15.15) says, ‘And you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.’
You shall go to your fathers in Peace, which means Abraham’s father Terach returned to God. He repented. You shall be buried in a good old age.’ means Ishmael would repent before Abraham died, and Esau would not turn to wickedness during Abraham’s lifetime. Abraham would have lived to 180 if Esau had remained righteous. Instead, he died in Peace at 175 years of age.] We learn that repentance and forgiveness are necessary for our body to rest in Peace and for our soul to return to God who gave it. Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz and Rabbi Nosson Scherman, The Artscroll Tanach Series – Bereishis Vol. I (a) (Brooklyn, New York: Mesorah Publications, Ltd. 3rd Impression, 1989), p 538 – 531 (Genesis 26.34 – 35) says, ‘And Esau was forty years old when he married Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite; And they made life bitter for Isaac and Rebekah.’ They were idolaters. They burned incense to idols. Esau took joy, happiness, and Peace in the home and community away from those nearby.
Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler shares that our world has people who are givers and people who are takers. The idea is to live a balanced life of giving and receiving. Genesis 36 begins by informing us that Esau was a taker.(Genesis 36.6) says that Esau took his wives
and his sons,
and his daughters,
and all the persons of his house,
and his cattle,
and all his beasts,
and all his wealth, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went to another country, away from his brother Jacob.’ That was during Isaac and Rebekah’s lives. Most people want to avoid TAKERS.
Abraham would not bless Isaac because of Esau. He prophetically foresaw his grandson Esau’s wicked, idolatress path, so he used caution. Rabbi Avrohom Davis, The Mesudah Chumash A New Linear Translation Bereishis (Hoboken New Jersey, KTVA Publishing House, Inc., 1991) p 269. Abraham said, ‘Let the Masters of the universe come and bless whomever He wishes. Avrohom Davis, Metsudah Midrash Tanchuma Bereishis 1 (Monsey, NY Eastern Book Press Inc. 2005) p170 (Shemot Rabba 42.7) says, ‘Mount Seir was the possession of Esau, and therefore symbolizes idolatry.’
Dear ones, we see the wickedness and murder some of our elected and appointed officials are trying to force on our nation’s unborn children. Let’s be strong, and stand up for God, Truth, and Righteous Living. (Michah 6.8) says, ‘He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord Require of you, but to do justice, love loving mercy, and walk humbly with your God.’ May each of us enjoy good health, happiness, healing, restoration, and Blessing, as we study the Torah and trust in The Lord.
