Pointing A Finger 3

We are continuing our brief discussion on ‘Accusations.’

Genesis 3.1

Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which The Lord God had made.

True or False _________ .

Genesis 3.13

And The Lord God said to the woman, to Adam’s wife, to Eve / Chavah, ‘What is this that you have done?’ And the woman said, ‘The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.’

The Woman Did it!

Why is Chavah identified as ‘the woman?’ Why not identify her as Chavah or Adam’s wife?

Holy Scripture is quoting Chavah’s response. ‘The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.’ Does anyone believe Chavah was truthful? Yes, ___ No ___ Was Chavah truly deceived by the serpent? Yes, ___ No ___?

Are we really supposed to believe that Chavah was deceived? Look at her punishment. We know that here punishment was equal to her guilt. The Lord God is Just, Forgiving, Compassionate, Understanding!  Is there more going on with ‘the woman’s’ punishment than meets the eye? And the woman said, ‘The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.’

Genesis 3.16

To the woman He said, ‘I will greatly multiply the pain of your childbearing; in sorrow, you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.’

Why do all women experience great pain in childbearing? Why do women bring forth children in sorrow? Why is a woman’s desire to her husband a punishment? Why is a husband’s rulership a punishment to his wife?

Genesis 3.14 – 15

And the Lord God Said to the serpent, ‘because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shall you go, וְעָפָר Vih Aw Far ‘and dust’ shall you eat all the days of your life; And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.’

Remember the Adam was formed from עָפָר מִן־הָאֲדָמָה ‘the dust’ of the ground?

Family and friends please share your thoughts.

May each of us be especially blessed with confidence and peace for participating.
